Yves Nilly – Screenwriter (France)
A graduate of literary and theatre studies in Paris, Yves Nilly is a prolific writer of screenplays and novels. He was born in Morocco and has written more than 70 dramas and soap operas for theatre, television and radio, broadcast in France and many other countries.
His first novel “Journal du froid”, published in 2001, was awarded a literary prize from the French historic writers’ association Société des Gens de Lettres (SGDL). Since then, Yves has written several texts for young people, librettos for operas, as well as translations and adaptations for theatre plays and scripts. In 2004, he created “The Listening Rooms”, a project combining theatre and live radio recording.
A speaker at the Writing Department of the prestigious theatre school École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Techniques du Théâtre (ENSATT) in Lyon and a passionate activist for a fair remuneration of audiovisual and literary creators, Yves is a former vice president of the Society of Dramatic Authors and Composers (SACD) and president of the French arts association Beaumarchais-SACD.
From 2011, he has served as the president of Writers & Directors Worldwide before becoming of vice-president in November 2017. He was elected president again in March 2019.
